Introducing SAPERE food education method in Iceland

A group from the Food and Children Nordic network together with the BoMin network visited Iceland last week. The focus of the meeting was to establish Icelandic contacts within food education and presenting the SAPERE-method of food education in Iceland. The network meeting was part of the program during Icelandic chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2014.


- The majority of children in the Nordic countries eat most of their meals outside home, why the important of increase high standard in public meals is very important.
The children eat many meals together with pedagogues and we are in the beginning of developing the field of good pedagogical public meal, states Project Manager Harriet Strandvik, New Nordic Food II. 

- SAPERE is a good tool for quality meals and help children in consciousness and healthy food choices. From the Nordic Network (BoMIN) we like to give an introduction in the useful tool SAPERE and on the same time gets inspired from the work on Iceland. The competence in the group will form the rest of the exciting exchange, continues Strandvik.
