On the 22nd - 23rd of
March Matís will host a workshop in Reykjavik on SME´s (small and medium
enterprises) and Nordic Food Competence Centres. The aim of the workshop is to
build a network between the participants and also to learn from each other about
what work has been done in each country. We will address the question “Can the
Nordic Food Competence Centres support and strengthen New Nordic Food”? The
participants will be encouraged to draw upon their experience and expertise to
answer these questions. The focus will also be on the marketing side because the
best ideas and products will not be successful without a good marketing
strategy.
These Competence Centres are of great
importance for entrepreneurs who have an idea for a new food product. The
centres offer specialist consultation and provide the entrepreneurs an
opportunity to produce their product in a certified processing facility. By
supporting these entrepreneurs we are building for the future and the food
culture will have an opportunity to evolve and new exiting products will
emerge.
The raw materials in the Nordic Countries are
of high quality and are a source of inspiration to food producers and chefs in
the region. By strengthening the Competence Centres they will become more able
to support local small scale food production.
